Pop goes the electrical outlet--what could be wrong?
#1
Hi,

I went to get on the treadmill in the garage (yeah for exercise!!11) and turned on the 17" flat panel tv, the dvd player, the treadmill and the oscillating fan.
Just as I was about to get on and start exercising i heard a pop and everything turned off. Thinking I had just tripped a breaker I looked at the panel and nothing was tripped. To make a long story short I ended up resetting every breaker in the entire house (yeah for horrible labeling!!11) and power still wouldn't come back to the outlet. The equipment plugged into the outlet was fine. We've been using the treadmill/tv/dvdplayer/fan for over a year without problem. Well it happens that at the same time my wife was in the backyard with an electric hedger plugged into an outlet on the back of the house and the hedger died at the same time as the equipment in the garage. I bought a power tester and it would only light up showing power to the socket very sporadically. Most of the time it had no light at all. These sockets aren't the kind that have reset switches on them.
So can the plugs be "blown" and need to be replaced? Or is something more serious going on here?

Please help.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
