4th International Conference on Seismic Retrofitting - Earthquake Engineering
http://4conf.icsr.ir/index.php?lang=En
Nowadays natural phenomena occur all over the globe, earthquake and its Derivatives such as Tsunami can potentially be the most destructive and threatening forces that may occur in the nature, as have been so far proved throughout the history of mankind.
Every now and then, human beings experience catastrophic events confronting extreme loss of life and money and recouping may take decades. From ancient times to this very day, thousands of people were killed, and many seashores around the world devastated because of tsunami.
On 2010, a massive quake hit the Haitian capital city, remaining a large number of victims and affecting millions. The Worst case scenario happened in Japan on 2011, as a combination of earthquakes and Tsunami remained more than 11 thousand victims, growing in number every day and nearly wiping out the land.
Iran, in particular, is located on several large active faults and most of its cities have paid the cost in this regard. Tabriz, the Great city of Iran flattened to the ground two times in history; Bam, the fabulous historical city, was nearly destroyed on 2002; and many other events of this kind remained huge causalities in the history of the region. All these could have been prevented or at least diminished only by being prepared.
Perpetual office of International Conferences on Seismic Retrofitting (POICSR) has held 3 successful conferences on retrofitting and rehabilitation. 4th International conference on seismic retrofitting (ICSR) after the Japan earthquake and tsunami has been decided to focus on Earthquake Engineering.
I am honored to invite all scientists, researchers, professors and students who concern about lives of Human Beings to share their knowledge and practices in 4th ICSR, to be held on 2 – 4 May 2012 in order to introduce the new technologies.
